Jobsplus strives to assist its clients in finding the right job and providing tailor-made guidance services based on their individual needs.

The Jobseeker Advisory Services

Upon communication with Jobsplus for initial guidance, clients are allocated an employment advisor. A meeting between the individual and the employment advisor is normally set to discuss the current situation, the options available and to develop an Action Plan. During this meeting, the employment advisor provides information on where to search for jobs, local training opportunities and relevant Jobsplus services such as short courseswork exposure schemestraineeships, and any other Jobsplus initiatives (more information is found on Jobsplus’s website).

In addition, we also offer more specific services, including:

  • Career tests: The aim of the career test is to help the registrant identify a suitable career or career path. This may be achieved through the exploration and eventual identification of careers that specifically match one’s work interests and skills.
  • Mock interviews: The aim of a mock interview is to enable the client to experience a job interview. It allows the client to practice the job interview skills and receive the necessary feedback which is provided individually. Mock interviews help jobseekers gain confidence and provide them with experience of what it is like to attend an actual employment interview.
  • CV building: A session which focuses on CV Writing to add value to the client’s job search by saving time and stress while optimising the CV for target roles. An outstanding CV will increase the confidence of jobseekers.

Jobsplus also organises other activities such as ad hoc information sessions and developmental workshops to targeted audiences. We do these either on our own initiative or in collaboration with other entities. These workshops/information sessions may tackle different themes related to employment.

The Inclusive Employment Services Unit

The Inclusive Employment Services Unit offers specific services to vulnerable clients.  Most of the services are offered through the ESF funded VASTE Programme. This programme offers support to disadvantaged individuals who encounter several difficulties when trying to join the labour market, either due to their background or due to their disability.

The employment advisors (EAs) within this unit assist former substance abusers, former prison inmates and individuals with other socio-economic difficulties in their job search on a one-to-one basis. During their meetings with EAs, clients are referred to training, work exposure schemes and work opportunities. Vulnerable clients are also offered the assistance of a mentor before and during employment. The team also works closely with other specialised organizations which, in turn, offer counselling and additional related services. Specialised programmes with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are offered to vulnerable clients to enhance their employability during their rehabilitation programme. Such programmes also support the individual’s entry into the labour market by offering training, social work, and psychotherapy services.  Various outreach activities for clients are carried out by the employment advisors. Such activities include assessment, career exploration, skills identification, and referrals to work exposure schemes.

Bridging the Gap is a scheme designed to support the client in the transition from unemployment to employment. It allows the employer to evaluate the performance of the client in the workplace prior to proper engagement. The employer and Jobsplus enter into an agreement regarding the work exposure period, whereby the client is placed on the scheme with the prospect of employment. Clients receive a weekly allowance of 80% of the minimum wage from Jobsplus, and they must renounce their rights to social security benefits if the work exposure period exceeds twenty-eight weeks. Employers participating in this scheme are exempted from social security contributions, wages and sick leave benefits and the employer can benefit from the support of Jobsplus officials throughout the work exposure phase.
